Pre-masters should be submitted as data files on either a DVD-R or on CD-R’s. We also have an ftp server with a high-speed line, so pre-masters can be submitted and masters retrieved via ftp. Stereo exports in either wav or aiff formats are acceptable. Files should ideally be at 24 bit - 16 bit is acceptable but results are better working off 24 bit files. All sampling rates (44.1, 48, 88.2 or 96 kHz) are welcome, and audio cd’s can be submitted, however these are obviously 16 bit and can be susceptible to errors.
In terms of material the most important thing is that ‘clean’ exports are supplied with no master effects on – i.e. no limiting / compression / eq or anything else on the Stereo Out. Mixing engineers should also ensure that the exports do not clip and that the loudest peak is between -12 DbFS and -0.5 DbFS. If mixing was done with compression on the stereo out we suggest that you submit the compressed version as a reference.
A full track listing should be supplied with the pre-master – this is especially important if cd text is required. Reference material is welcome – either home masters of the material or work by other artists that you would like to be referenced. Fade-ins and –outs can be done by us or at mixdown.
